52626 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Issue with ERISA Attorney Auditor and TPA Eligibility is 1 year of service Initial determination is date of hire to date of hire Date of Entry 1/1 and 7/1 Timing of entry is Coincident with or next following the date eligibility requirements are met Employee is hired 7/1/2024 and completes 1,000 hours Is his DOE 7/1/2025 or 1/1/2026??
WCC Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago 7/1/2025. Participant completes one YOS on 6/30/2025, next entry date is 7/1. David D and EBP 2
52626 Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago I agree the participant enters 7/1 Dumb question - why is YOS only going to 6/30 vs 7/1/2024 to 7/1/2025??
WCC Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago number of days from 7/1/2024 to 7/1/2025 (including both the beginning date and ending date) = 366 days number of days from 7/1/204 to 6/30/2025 = 365 (excluding leap years) By counting 7/1/2025, the service condition would become one year and one day, they already worked 7/1/2024, they don't have to work one more July 1 date to complete one year of service.
CuseFan Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Agreed - but even if you went 7/1 to 7/1, that second 7/1 is coincident with an entry date, so either way you slice it, it's a 7/1 entry. Bill Presson 1 Kenneth M. Prell, CEBS, ERPA Vice President, BPAS Actuarial & Pension Services kprell@bpas.com

I find it easier to think in terms of a calendar year. You wouldn't consider 1/1/2024 to 1/1/2025 for the year of service. You would consider the year ending 12/31/2024.
