jeanh Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Looking to change the current software providers for my dc and db administration/testing work- any suggestions ?- cost effective
BG5150 Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 what are you using now? QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
BG5150 Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 I've really only used Relius Administration (and a little Omni), so I can only speak to that product. I like it a lot. More expensive than the others. So, I've just added little if any value to this discussion. :( QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
A Shot in the Dark Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Our office uses ASC and has for the last 20 years. Before that and during this time (as we acquired other TPA firms), I have used Relius (Quantech and before that Pentabs). I have also used Datair. If FT William upgrades their compliance software with share accounting we may try that system. In my opinion, Relius is the best, but it is also the most expensive. As a whole I think they all work adequately.
ESOP Guy Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 I came to love Omni+ once I mastered it. I loved the flexibility of the custom calculators and the system over all. Its flexibility can be its draw back as other systems will do some of the work. I learned the 4k business on Pentabs and if you set up the plan specs right and loaded a good census 90+% of the time the first results you got from it were the correct results. Omni+ doesn't hold your hand like that but there was no allocation issue we couldn't program to solve once out group mastered teh custom calculators. I found their distribution system to be excellent. hr for me 1
Bri Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I was going to say, I was the Relius guru in my prior jobs. Started at an ASC firm 3 years ago. ASC is a lot like using PENTABS, the old DOS precursor to Quantech/Relius. But I don't have any inkling on the cost differences. Especially if you have to factor in re-training everyone on a new system. If I started my own firm I'd choose Relius, though.
NJ Mike Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 We have been using Datair for many years and are happy with the system as well as the service we receive. It works well for us in the small plan world. Mike
K2retire Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I've used both Relius and Datair. Relius seemed more logical to me -- but that may be a reflection of how my mind works more than how the programs work. I have no idea of cost for either.
jeanh Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 thanks so much for input - thinking I will go with Datair - cost is reasonable and the references I spoke with were very happy
imchipbrown Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Many of the vendors mentioned also have Document and Reporting software. You should consider "bundled costs" (much like Cable TV/Phone/Internet) if price is an issue.
YogaTPA Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 We switched over to FTWilliam from Relius in late 2016. We have been very happy with FTW especially because it integrates with all their other features that we also use (tax forms, plan documents, and we recently signed up for their portal). The price can't be beat, as far as I know. I'm a "youngster" and never liked the flow of Relius. FTW is more intuitive. Though none of these systems are perfect.
