Fielding Mellish Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Plan Document says a participant can get a hardship distribution for the safe harbor reasons. Participant submits documentation for medical expenses (say $1,000) and also to prevent foreclosure (say $10,000). Asking for $11,000 in one distribution to cover both. Is that permissible? Assume the plan language doesn't speak to that. Thank you. You cannot bash in the head of an American citizen without written permission from the State Department.
Lou S. Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 If they are occurring at the same time I don't see why not.
RAH401(k) Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 As long as they have the documentation to prove the actual need for both, and the exact dollar amounts, this shouldn't be an issue.
