ESI2015 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Good evening. Do any of you fellow practitioners have suggestions on where to find the best 457 training for new staff? I've looked on ASPPA and NIPA and am not finding training designated towards just non-qualified 457 plans. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
Pam Shoup Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 You may want to look at NTSA (sister company to ASPPA) and the TGPC designation. ESI2015 1 Pamela L. Shoup CEBS, RPA, QKA
Luke Bailey Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 ESI2015, by "nonqualified 457 plan," you mean 457(f)? ESI2015 1 Luke Bailey Senior Counsel Clark Hill PLC 214-651-4572 (O) | LBailey@clarkhill.com 2600 Dallas Parkway Suite 600 Frisco, TX 75034
C. B. Zeller Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 In addition to the TGPC, ASPPA has a CPC module about nonqualified plans. It's not specific to 457(f) plans but they are on the syllabus. Derrin Watson has a 457 book available on erisapedia.com; it is, like everything the man writes, excellent. But it is more of a reference manual than a training resource. austin3515 Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 If you read the applicable sections of the ERISA Outline Book that would be a good start. There actually is not nearly as much to know as in the 401k space, but if you don't know even one of the important things to know, then you can really cause trouble. Who can be eligible and the taxation rules just to name two that come to mind. ESI2015 1 Austin Powers, CPA, QPA, ERPA
