Washington State Long-Term Care Act: What Employers Need to Know

Seyfarth Shaw LLP

June 7, 2021
On-Demand
Webinar

In an effort to plan for the projected long-term care needs of its residents, the Washington Legislature passed the Long-Term Services and Supports Trust Act to provide long-term care benefits for Washington state residents. The first of its kind in the United States, the Act creates the Washington Cares Fund that will be funded by payroll deductions of 0.58 percent of an employee’s wages. While the new law does not take effect until next year and residents can opt out by November 1, 2021, employers should start taking steps to be prepared and share information with their Washington-based employees.

Please join us for this webinar in which we will discuss the following topics as they relate to the new law:

  • What the law does and who will be impacted
  • Options for employers and what is required of them, including those already offering or preparing to offer long-term care options
  • How employees can opt-out of the program
  • Current guidance from the Washington Employment Security Department
  • Questions that remain

Speakers:

Liz Deckman, Partner, Seyfarth Shaw LLP
Helen McFarland, Partner, Seyfarth Shaw LLP
Christine McCullugh, President, LTC Solutions, Inc.
