Mar. 31, 2009 Excerpt: The U.S. Supreme Court refused Monday to stop San Francisco from requiring employers to help pay for health coverage of the uninsured, rejecting restaurant owners' bid for an emergency stay while the court weighs a legal challenge to the groundbreaking program. The 800-member Golden Gate Restaurant Association argues that the mandatory employer fee conflicts with nationwide regulation of health benefits and will hurt businesses already battered by the economy.
