Taxing public pensions in excess of $100,000 a year could bring an extra $60 million into state coffers -- ? but would likely drive retirees from the Golden State .... The [ballot initiative measure] would basically amend the state Constitution to institute a new state tax on pension benefits in excess of $100,000 a year, paid to retirees by the California Public Employees Retirement System and the California State Teachers' Retirement System.
