National Council on Teacher Retirement
Aug. 1, 2012
"Overall, just 19 percent of full-time public sector workers are very confident in their retirement income prospects, according to the survey results.... Other findings include: 49 percent of teachers believe that they will need to replace 70 percent or more of their pre-retirement income each year in retirement so that they can live comfortably. Among K-12 teachers, the average preferred retirement age is 59 years and the average expected retirement age is 63 years."
