[Opinion] Oct. 17, 2019 "Nearly a year after it held a roundtable on the topic, the [SEC] ... issued 'an interpretation that proxy voting advice provided by proxy advisory firms generally constitutes a "solicitation" under the federal proxy rules.'... Public pension funds are already underfunded and underperforming. The SEC is in a unique position to address a serious problem. Now is the time for leading officials to ensure that investments are based, in the SEC's own words, on 'timely, comprehensive, and accurate information,' not on blanket recommendations steeped in ideology."
