Preliminary Analysis of The Insurance Coverage Specifications Provided By The House Tri-Committee Group (PDF)

14 pages. July 14, 2009 letter to Rep. Charles B. Rangel. Excerpt: "The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) have completed a preliminary analysis of the specifications related to health insurance coverage that are reflected in draft legislation called America's Affordable Health Choices Act, which was released by the House tricommittee majority group on July 14, 2009. Among other things, those specifications would establish a mandate for most legal residents to obtain insurance, significantly expand eligibility for Medicaid, and set up insurance 'exchanges' through which certain individuals and families could receive federal subsidies to substantially reduce the cost of purchasing that coverage." (U.S. Congressional Budget Office)

Senate Committee Approves Its Version of Healthcare Reform Bill

House Health Plan Outlines Higher Taxes on Rich

(The New York Times; free registration required)

House Committee Chairs Unveil Latest Health Reform Plan

PhRMAs $80 Billion in Part D Concessions May Drive Up Health Plan Drug Costs
Excerpt: "Some analysts predict that Medicare Part D plans will see higher drug costs and possibly higher brand-name utilization as a result of the $80 billion pledge made by trade group Pharma.ceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) to defray seniors' drug expenses in the Medicare Part D 'doughnut hole' coverage gap. But others say the impact will be negligible, since Part D plans bear a low share of catastrophic drug costs." (Drug Benefit News via AISHealth.com)

GM Retirees Who Lost Health Care Benefits in Bankrup.tcy Fight to Get Them Back

SEC Proposes Proxy Disclosure and Corporate Governance Revisions (PDF)

In addition, the revisions would change the reporting of annual stock and option awards to company executives and directors, as well as require quicker reporting of voting results.
