Firm welcomes Managed Care + Employee Benefits Litigator Katherine M. Katchen PHILADELPHIA, PA – Robinson+Cole is pleased to announce the addition of Katherine M. Katchen as counsel in the firm’s Managed Care + Employee Benefits Litigation Group. Ms. Katchen has more than 20 years of litigation experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation matters, particularly in the area of managed care and insurance. She will be resident in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Ms. Katchen’s practice is primarily focused on health insurers, managed care companies, and insurers and third-party administrators in state and federal actions around the country. Her litigation experience includes a broad range of litigation, including the defense of allegations of RICO conspiracy; ERISA violations; bad faith; contract and quasi-contract; tortious interference; and breach of state prompt pay laws. She has litigated these and other issues in many jurisdictions throughout the United States, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, California and Maryland. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Katchen was an Attorney Advisor to the U.S. Department of Labor from 1997 to 1999. “We are pleased to welcome Kate, an experienced litigator, to our growing Philadelphia office,” said Stephen E. Goldman, Managing Partner, Robinson+Cole. “Her broad ranging litigation experience provides depth to our litigation capabilities in the Mid-Atlantic region, and her experience in managed care and employee benefits litigation will be a great complement to our existing vibrant practice. The addition of Kate is another step in the execution of our Strategic Plan of building on our strengths and expanding our capabilities in our major metropolitan geographies.” Earlier this month, Robinson+Cole also welcomed bankruptcy and reorganizations lawyer, Rachel Jaffe Mauceri to its Philadelphia office. In 2019, Robinson+Cole opened offices in Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE to facilitate the addition of a national bankruptcy group headed by Natalie D. Ramsey, a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Bankruptcy. In late 2020, the firm welcomed Seth B. Orkand as a partner in its Government Enforcement and White-Collar Defense Team in the Boston office; an eight-attorney insurance litigation group from White and Williams headed by John F. McCarrick and Erica J. Kerstein in New York; Frederick E. Hedberg as partner in the Construction Group in Hartford; and Matthew P. Mazzola as partner in the Managed Care + Employee Benefits Litigation Group in New York.
