K&L Gates Adds New York Partner to Benefits, ESOPs and Executive Compensation Practice

Issued by K&L Gates

Sept. 27, 2021

New York - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Amanda Albert as a partner in the benefits, ESOPs, and executive compensation practice. She joins the firm’s New York office from Allen & Overy LLP. Albert’s arrival closely follows the additions of New York partners Josh Berick and Jacqueline Duval to the firm’s corporate and asset management and investment funds practice areas, respectively.

Albert has substantial experience advising both public and private clients on employee benefits, employment, and executive compensation matters. She counsels clients on the full range of tax, ERISA, governance, securities, and regulatory issues in these matters, including related disclosure matters for public companies. In addition, she advises clients on new trends in these areas.

This includes representing clients on all employee benefits, employment, and executive compensation aspects of corporate transactions, including M&As, spin-offs, IPOs, reorganizations and restructurings, private equity, and funding transactions. Albert also works with clients, including business executives, boards, and compensation committees, in designing, implementing, administering, and adjusting their annual and long-term incentive compensation plans, and profits interest, employment, consulting, separation, retention, bonus, incentive, restrictive covenant, and other similar plans and agreements.

Seattle partner Karrie Johnson Diaz, a coordinator of K&L Gates’ benefits, ESOPs, and executive compensation practice group, stated: “We are thrilled to have Amanda join our employee benefits and executive compensation group. Her deep experience will be a benefit to our clients across the firm.”

K&L Gates’ employee benefits, ESOPs, and executive compensation lawyers provide employers of all sizes and industries, and a wide variety of other stakeholders in the employee benefits industry, tools to compete for talented labor, through high-quality and sophisticated compensation and employee benefit arrangements and programs, while providing advice with respect to the management of the regulatory burden and cost of those compensation arrangements and benefits. The group provides the full range of legal services relating to compensation and employee benefit plans, programs, and arrangements, including tax, ERISA, securities, regulatory and legislative, litigation, and fiduciary issues in connection with the design and implementation, ongoing administration, and termination of plans, as well as the investment of plan assets.

K&L Gates has welcomed 95 partners and of counsel since the beginning of 2020, including in the firm’s corporate; health care; tax; commercial litigation; energy, infrastructure and resources; environment, land and natural resources; asset management and investment funds; banking and asset finance; labor and employment; IP procurement and portfolio management; IP litigation; technology transactions; real estate; government contracts; and investigations, enforcement and white collar practices.
