Katie Selenski Joins DCIIA as Senior Advisor

Former Founding Executive Director of CalSavers to Consult on Strategic Projects for DCIIA and Its Retirement Research Center

JUPITER, FL  – The Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA) is pleased to announce that Katie Selenski, former founding Executive Director of CalSavers, has joined the nonprofit organization as a Senior Advisor effective today. She will report to Lew Minsky, DCIIA’s President and CEO.

“We are so pleased to welcome Katie to the team,” said Minsky. “Her breadth and depth of industry knowledge and experience will be incredibly valuable assets as we continue to evolve our organization and expand key strategic initiatives, including our work around retirement savings access and inclusion and custom research within our Retirement Research Center.”

Selenski most recently served as the Executive Director of CalSavers, the State of California’s pioneering retirement savings program that provides a path to retirement security for Californians who lack access to a retirement plan at work. Appointed by the State Treasurer in 2017 shortly after legislative passage, Selenski took CalSavers from concept through design, build, and full rollout.

Prior to taking the helm at CalSavers, she was the State Policy Director for pension policy at The Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington, D.C., where she advised policymakers in a dozen states and cities. Previously, she was a senior manager with the nonpartisan public sector consulting firm Harvey M. Rose Associates, where she advised municipal leaders on a wide array of budget, management, and policy matters, including pensions. She is a member of the advisory board of the Aspen Institute’s Leadership Forum on Retirement Savings, a frequent speaker on retirement savings, and has been quoted by dozens of national media outlets. Selenski is a graduate of the University of Chicago and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and is based in California.
