Tracy Walters McCormack, Esq., Joins JAMS in Austin

Issued by JAMS

Aug. 8, 2023

Austin – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Tracy Walters McCormack, Esq., to its panel. Professor McCormack joins after serving as the director of advocacy at The University of Texas at Austin School of Law. In this role, she instructed generations of lawyers in Texas civil procedure, evidence, trial advocacy and dispute resolution advocacy.

Under Professor McCormack’s leadership, the program at the University of Texas at Austin achieved national recognition for its integrated offering, featuring classes, interscholastic teams and institutes backed by innovative research in the field. She remains a senior lecturer, teaching torts and negotiation, among other classes. Earlier in her career, Professor McCormack practiced insurance and reinsurance, ERISA, complex litigation and appellate law for the AmLaw 100 firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP. Her work in the insurance industry encompassed all aspects of litigation and regulation, formation, rate setting and coverage. Prior to her practice with Akin Gump, she maintained a traditional litigation practice, including commercial, personal injury, fiduciary and energy litigation.

Based in Austin, Professor McCormack will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and neutral evaluator, handling appellate, business/commercial, class action/mass tort, employment, health care and insurance cases. She is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country.

Professor McCormack is an illustrious legal educator who has helped equip generations of lawyers with the skills needed to build successful careers. With each endeavor, she channels her creativity, passion and innovation. We are committed to bringing talented neutrals to the Austin market, and we’re pleased that Professor McCormack has chosen to begin this next chapter with JAMS.

    - Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

During her time in legal education, Professor McCormack has facilitated or presided over numerous mock trials, mock arbitrations and stakeholder focus groups. She also has remained an active member of the legal community and is the current president of the National Board of Trial Advocacy. She also served as co-chair of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Foundation’s Public Education Committee from 2022 to 2023, among many other titles she held throughout her career.

As a JAMS neutral, I will draw on my unique experiences as a trial lawyer and legal educator to help parties find efficient, collaborative, thoughtful and just solutions to their disputes.

    - Tracy Walters McCormack, Esq.

Professor McCormack earned her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and her J.D. from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
