Press Release Nevin Adams 2023 Recipient of Harry T. Eidson Founders Award: |
Issued by ASPPA [American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries] Oct. 24, 2023 |
Nevin E. Adams, JD, is the 2023 recipient of ASPPA’s Harry T. Eidson Founders Award. He received the award at the ASPPA Annual Conference in National Harbor, MD. Justin Bonestroo, 2023 ASPPA President, bestowed the award, recognizing Adams as having been “an integral part of the expansion of ASPPA and its ‘sister organizations’” within the American Retirement Association. Adams noted that he had been working in the retirement industry for 22 years before he became involved in media activity. Eventually, he was at a crossroads and chose the path he ended up on for the rest of his career. “It really has been a phenomenal experience, the opportunity Brian gave to me to come and be a part of this amazing organization. It is something that I will treasure for the rest of my days.” He added that he also wanted “to thank all of you, for what you do, what you’ve done, what you’re going to continue to do in the future.” “What we do really does matter,” he continued, adding, “People would not be able to retire in this country if you did not do what you do.” About the Award In 1995, the Harry T. Eidson Founders Award was established to honor the memory of ASPPA’s founder, Harry T. Eidson, FSPA, CPC. Eidson was the initial inspiration behind the formation of ASPPA in 1966. He firmly believed in the importance of a private workplace retirement system for the United States and was committed to building an organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing such a system. Each year, ASPPA honors one or two individuals with this award. The ASPPA Leadership Council selects the recipients of the Eidson Award from a list of nominees. It considers the following criteria regarding a candidate’s contribution:
