Press Release

NCEO Announces 2024 Board of Directors

Issued by National Center for Employee Ownership [NCEO]

Feb. 15, 2024

The NCEO is delighted to announce three new members of its board of directors: Daniel Goldstein, Howard Kaplan, and Kerry Siggins; their biographies are below. The three-year terms of the new directors will begin on April 1, 2024. Congratulations and thanks to our new directors!

Also on April 1, current board chair Victor Aspengren will step down, becoming the immediate past chair, and be replaced as chair by current vice chair Jennifer Briggs. Additionally, Susan Kildahl will join the executive committee.

As we welcome the new directors, we also give huge thanks to the board members who will no longer be directors when the new term starts. We owe a debt of gratitude to Mary Boettcher, Matt Keene, and Amanda Wolkowitz, whose terms end on March 31.

The New Directors

Daniel Goldstein (Folience, retired)

Daniel Goldstein has 25+ years of managing and advising companies and other organizations, including business strategy, acquisitions, direct investments, portfolio design, building teams, culture, and purpose-driven philanthropy, spanning several continents, many jurisdictions, and multiple languages. At the end of 2023, Daniel retired as CEO of Folience, a 100% ESOP-owned holding company. He has served on the board of the Employee Ownership Expansion Network (EOX), the board of the ESOP Association, and the Employee Ownership Foundation’s executive committee. Daniel is an Executive Fellow at the Rutgers Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing and a Fellow at the UK-based Ownership at Work think tank.

Howard Kaplan (Kaplan Fiduciary)

With three decades of expertise, Howard Kaplan is an authority in private and ESOP-owned companies, consulting on governance and fiduciary matters. In addition to his private practice, Kaplan serves on five private boards, including as chair of one board, and additional chairs of executive compensation, governance, and nominating committees. Kaplan also serves as a fiduciary process expert in federal court. Before Kaplan Fiduciary, he headed fiduciary practices at top-tier trust companies. He is a frequent lecturer at UC San Diego’s Beyster Institute and Kent State’s OEOC. Kaplan is a long-term member of the NCEO and the ESOP Association.

Kerry Siggins (StoneAge)

Kerry Siggins is the CEO of StoneAge, the leading global high-pressure industrial cleaning equipment manufacturer. Under her leadership, StoneAge transformed into a powerhouse in the industrial cleaning industry, disrupting how the world is cleaned. Kerry also led StoneAge’s transition to becoming 100% employee-owned, and StoneAge has won numerous awards, including Outside magazine’s Best Places to Work.
