ERISA 50th Anniversary Symposium & Gala: Call for Research Papers

Issued by American Retirement Association [ARA]

Apr. 3, 2024

Arlington, Va. -- ERISA’s significance in safeguarding American workers' retirement and health and welfare benefits cannot be overstated. Several groups and associations have come together to plan The ERISA 50th Anniversary Symposium & Gala to be held on September 12, 2024.

The event will celebrate this landmark legislation and serve as a platform for professionals, legal experts, government representatives, and stakeholders to gather to reflect on the achievements and impact of ERISA over the past 50 years. It will also provide a forum for discussing the current challenges faced by employee benefit plans and plan participants, addressing emerging trends, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Respond here to submit your new ERISA-related research idea that will further inform and enhance the dialogue around opportunities and challenges for employer-sponsored retirement and health plans. We welcome and encourage organizations to collaborate.

The ERISA 50 Research Committee will review your research idea. EBRI CEO Barb Marder chairs the Research Committee, which includes research leaders from ERISA 50 Host organizations AARP, American Benefits Council, ACLI, AHIP, ARA, BCBSA, DCIIA, ERIC, ICI, SPARK, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as well as other thought leaders.

One research project will be presented at the Symposium and other papers will be included in an ERISA 50th digital journal. There are also opportunities for research projects to be covered in webcasts leading up to the September 12 event.

The deadline for submitting a research topic is April 30, 2024, and the research must be completed by August 15, 2024.

Reach out to Barb Marder (marder@ebri.org) with any questions. We look forward to your submissions.
