Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA) Announces Industry Resources on Retirement Income

Issued by Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association [DCIIA]

June 29, 2026

Four short papers cover key issues for plan sponsors lifetime income solutions map jointly published with 401(k) annuity hub

Jupiter, FL – The Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA) today announced the publication of a series of four short “Snapshot” papers on the topic of retirement income. They are available to all in the DCIIA Resource Library, covering topics including:

  • Retirement income: Introduction and policy background
  • Reasons why plan sponsors are considering retirement income solutions
  • Participant risks in retirement
  • Retirement income: Plan sponsor implications/considerations

DCIIA is simultaneously announcing the co-publication with 401(k) Annuity Hub of the 401(k) Lifetime Income Solutions Map, also available in the DCIIA Resource Library and on the 401(k) Annuity Hub website. The map provides a visual overview by firm of product offerings in the space, including target date funds, managed accounts, annuities, and more. DCIIA’s Retirement Research Center (RRC) also recently announced the publication of “Retirement Income Solutions: Recordkeeper Distribution Study.”

“We are pleased to offer these resources to plan sponsors, consultants, advisors and others in the industry with the goal of fostering understanding and encouraging dialogue on the importance of lifetime income,” said Lew Minsky, President and CEO, DCIIA. “We are grateful to our member volunteers, without whom we could not develop these valuable resources. It has also been a pleasure to partner with 401(k) Annuity Hub in publishing the Solutions Map.”

“Collaborating with other members to produce these short papers as a resource for plan sponsors and their advisors highlights one of the core reasons we are engaged with DCIIA -- coming together to produce educational resources to benefit the industry,” said Karen Neeley, Pacific Life, Vice Chair of the DCIIA Retirement Income Committee and member lead on the papers.

“The 401(k) Lifetime Income Solutions Map is meant to provide a holistic look at this rapidly evolving landscape, and we hope it serves as a useful resource for the broader retirement ecosystem,” said Tamiko Toland, Founder and Principal, 401(k) Annuity Hub. “We appreciate DCIIA’s partnership in developing and distributing the Map to its members.”

DCIIA Retirement Income Committee members who collaborated on the paper series include: Karen Neeley, Pacific Life (lead); Tamiko Toland, 401(k) Annuity Hub; Tim Kohn, Amazon / Whole Foods Market; Heather Ross, Caldwell Ross Communications; Angela Montez, Eversheds Sutherland; Sean McCaffery, Fiducient; Jeremy Stempien, PGIM.

The “Snapshot” series follows a similar series of short papers published in April on the topic of private assets in DC plans, created by the DCIIA Investment Policy & Design Committee and also freely available on the DCIIA website in the Resource Library.
