Press Release It is ‘Never Too Little, Never Too Late’ for 401(k) Day |
Issued by PSCA [Plan Sponsor Council of America] Aug. 12, 2026 |
The 30th Anniversary of 401(k) Day will be held on Thursday, September 10 this year Arlington, VA -- The Plan Sponsor Council of America (PSCA) announces its 2026 401(k) Day campaign, "Never Too Little, Never Too Late," a nationwide effort to help employees take meaningful steps toward improving their retirement readiness. This year, in observance of September 11th, PSCA will recognize 401(k) day on September 10th rather than the traditional Friday after Labor Day observance. The 2026 campaign focuses on encouraging participants to become more engaged with their retirement plans by taking a few simple actions that can have a lasting impact on their long-term financial security. "As automatic enrollment has become more widespread, more workers are saving for retirement than ever before," said Will Hansen, PSCA’s executive director. "But having an account is only the first step. This year's campaign is designed to help participants understand their plans, access their accounts, and build habits that support stronger retirement outcomes over time." The campaign theme addresses two of the most common barriers to retirement saving: the belief that there is not enough money to save and the misconception that it is too late to make a difference. Through practical resources and easy-to-follow guidance, "Never Too Little, Never Too Late" demonstrates how small actions taken consistently over time can help improve retirement preparedness. To support plan sponsors, PSCA has developed a comprehensive suite of customizable educational materials, including:
PSCA's three-part podcast series provides concise, approximately 10-minute discussions covering retirement planning fundamentals, maximizing savings opportunities, and understanding investment options. Employers can distribute the over time or share them all at once as part of their 401(k) Day activities. 401(k) Day, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is a national retirement education initiative that encourages Americans to focus on their retirement savings and take actions that can improve their long-term financial well-being. Through educational resources and employer engagement, the annual campaign helps workers better understand and utilize their workplace retirement benefits. All materials are available on PSCA’s website at www.psca.org/401kday. About the Plan Sponsor Council of America The Plan Sponsor Council of America (PSCA), part of the American Retirement Association (ARA), is a diverse, collaborative community of employee benefit plan sponsors, working together on behalf of millions of employees to solve real problems, create positive change, and expand on the success of the employer-sponsored retirement system.
