|
Issued by PSCA [Plan Sponsor Council of America] Aug. 18, 2026 |
|
Award recipients have strengthened plan governance, enhanced participant education, and improved retirement readiness for their employees. Arlington, VA – The Plan Sponsor Council of America (PSCA) is proud to announce David Clark, Stephanie Reece Griffin, and Brittany Wieringa as the recipients of the 2026 CPSP Member of the Year Award, recognizing Certified Plan Sponsor Professionals (CPSPs) who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to improving retirement outcomes for plan participants. The CPSP Member of the Year Award, established in 2024, celebrates individuals who have successfully applied the knowledge and principles gained through the Certified Plan Sponsor Professional program to strengthen retirement plan governance, enhance participant engagement, and drive meaningful plan improvements. "These three professionals exemplify what it means to be a CPSP," said Will Hanen, PSCA’s Executive Director. "Through their dedication to fiduciary excellence, participant education, and continuous improvement, David, Stephanie, and Brittany have made a measurable difference in the lives of the employees they serve. Their achievements reflect the value of the CPSP credential and the critical role plan sponsors play in helping workers prepare for retirement." David Clark David Clark serves as Senior Manager of HR Operations at Arcus Biosciences, where he oversees retirement plan administration and serves as the organization's primary retirement plan contact. After earning his CPSP credential in 2025, David utilized his expertise to implement several participant-focused enhancements, including increased employer matching contributions, automatic escalation, expanded Roth savings opportunities, greater flexibility for deferral changes, an onsite benefits fair, and broader educational programming. He also applied his fiduciary and operational knowledge to identify and correct administrative issues, helping protect both participants and the integrity of the plan. Stephanie Reece Griffin As Director of Employee Benefits for The Coca-Cola Bottlers' Association, Stephanie Reece Griffin oversees retirement plan governance for a Multiple Employer Plan serving more than 30 Coca-Cola bottlers, approximately 14,000 eligible participants, and $1 billion in plan assets. Her application of CPSP principles to governance, investment oversight, plan design, and risk management contributed to a three percent increase in plan participation in the past year. Stephanie's commitment to participant education and her collaborative leadership approach have strengthened retirement readiness and reinforced her reputation as a trusted strategic partner among participating employers. Brittany Wieringa Brittany Wieringa, Retirement Benefits Specialist at Upper Peninsula Power Company, has distinguished herself through her dedication to participant advocacy and retirement readiness. Since obtaining her CPSP credential in August 2025, she has enhanced plan operations through collaboration with advisors and recordkeepers, implemented process improvements, and expanded financial wellness initiatives. Her ability to simplify complex retirement concepts has increased participant engagement through educational webinars and targeted communications, helping employees make informed decisions about their financial futures. The CPSP credential is designed specifically for retirement plan sponsors and equips professionals with the knowledge needed to effectively oversee workplace retirement plans. PSCA congratulates David, Stephanie, and Brittany on this well-deserved recognition for their ongoing commitment to advancing retirement security for American workers. About the Plan Sponsor Council of America The Plan Sponsor Council of America (PSCA), part of the American Retirement Association (ARA), is a diverse, collaborative community of employee benefit plan sponsors, working together on behalf of millions of employees to solve real problems, create positive change, and expand on the success of the employer-sponsored retirement system.
