The rate of people who say they're covered by a current or former employer dropped from 45.5 percent to 43.4 percent from the end of 2013. Meanwhile, the rate of people who say they're covered by a plan paid for by themselves or a family member increased from 17.2 percent to 18.1 percent over the same time."

"Americans borrowed an estimated $88 billion to pay for health care last year and one in four people skipped care because of costs ... The nationwide survey of 3,537 adults also found that lower-income adults were more likely to skip care or fear bankruptcy over spiraling medical costs. But even affluent households have deferred care over concerns about finances."

"The U.S. uninsured rate is 16.1% so far in January, modestly down from 17.3% in December after the Affordable Care Act's requirement for Americans to have health insurance took effect on Jan. 1. "Among all U.S. nonretirees, 401(k) plans and IRAs -- at 46% -- are the most commonly expected 'major source' of retirement funds, followed by Social Security (30%), savings accounts or CDs (25%), and pension plans (24%). Gallup has tracked these expectations since 2001, and self-directed retirement accounts such as 401(k) plans and Social Security have been the leading expected sources each year, with only minor variations in the year-to-year percentages for each."

"An employer-sponsored health insurance plan should not expect net medical savings from [GLP-1] medications, even with their impressive impacts on patient weight and health.... Lower prices would allow more people to benefit from these medications.... The Gallup Organization recently reported that public opinion of the quality of U.S. healthcare has declined to its lowest point since they started asking this question in 2001."

Syntax Enhancements for Standard Searches

  • Quotation marks can be used to require an exact phrase, such as
    "standard of review"
  • When CAPITALIZED, the words AND, OR and NOT are logic operators, which are especially powerful when multiple words (e.g., synonyms) are grouped in parentheses, such as
(vested OR vesting OR lifetime) AND (retiree OR retirement) AND (health OR healthcare) AND (benefits OR coverage)
