Excerpt: A request for the use of substitute mortality tables generally must be submitted at least 7 months prior to the first day of the first plan year for which the substitute mortality tables are to apply.... Notwithstanding the generally applicable deadline, a request to use substitute mortality tables is timely if it is submitted on or before October 1, 2007.
