Excerpt: The Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals took the occasion of this appeal of an denial of long term disability benefits to state a cardinal rule of plan interpretation. Miller v. Monumental Life Ins. Co stands for the proposition that, in the Tenth Circuit, ambiguities in plan language will be interpreted against the plan drafter where the standard of review is de novo.
