  1. We feel that they are pretty clear, but caveat with "for informational purposes only, not tax advice, etc." After all, this is based on the information we have on file, and the client/CPA may have additional information that would change things.

  2. Are the PAs in an affiliated service group with the partnership? (Probably yes - this is the classic ASG scenario, and it would explain why the three doctor partners are able to participate in the partnership's plan even though they are not employees of the partnership. However an ASG determination is highly fact-specific, and the standard advice to consult an attorney applies.) Assuming this is an ASG, then the one doctor could adopt his own plan, but it would have to be aggregated with the partnership's plan for testing. Keep in mind that includes not just benefits (ADP/ACP, etc) but also availability of benefits, rights and features, so he can't for example have an investment in his plan that isn't available to the employees of the partnership.

  3. Bundled provider here. We do this for all clients as part of our regular services, no additional fee. I see no disadvantage to doing it. It's very helpful during the sales phase, and both clients and CPAs have been very appreciative. If you collect the necessary information, it's not a heavy lift to provide this service.

  4. Thanks!!! In designing the report that’s the deliverable to clients and their CPAs, were there any issues about interpreting the tax law? Or are those provisions of the Internal Revenue Service so clear and unambiguous that there was no need for interpretation? (As you’re smart enough to discern, my interest is in teaching students about work environments beyond law and accounting firms.)

  5. Better than counting zeros (because a number might not have any zeros), you can count the commas: one million has 2 commas, 1 billion has 3 commas, 1 trillion has 4 commas, etc.
