Guest Gibson Posted June 21, 2001 Posted June 21, 2001 Plan provides that an employee becomes eligible to participate 6 months after his or her employment commencement date. There is no hours requirement. How is this administered for employees who are hired, terminate before becoming eligible, and then are rehired? When can we disregard the initial period of service?
rcline46 Posted June 21, 2001 Posted June 21, 2001 First is elig rules. 6 mos. is working in 6 mos. Not all plans require them to be consecutive, just withing a plan year - check doc. You might interpret it to mean 6 mos EVER. Then comes entry date which you were not clear on - date of event, monthly, quarterly, dual, annual? If not employed on entry date, cannot enter. Plan might say immediate entry on rehire if ever satisfied elig. Lots of stuff to check in the document.
