Guest AdminFL Posted August 13, 2001 Posted August 13, 2001 I have been advised that a local IRS practitioner hotline told someone in my office that 5500 "items" should now be filed with the IRS Cincinnati office and that this is a new procedure. Has anyone heard about this? I can't find anything to back up a change in filing address for 5500s.
david rigby Posted August 13, 2001 Posted August 13, 2001 The 5500 instructions, as posted on the IRS website, state that all forms, attachments, etc. should be filed with the PWBA (Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration), which is an agency within the DOL. See page 4. http://ftp.fedworld.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i5500.pdf I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
Guest tompga Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 As the above reply says, 5500s go to the DOL in Kansas. The only thing I can think of that still goes to IRS is the extension request on a 5558.
