Guest Diane DuFresne Posted October 9, 2001 Posted October 9, 2001 Have a new client who is using a 52-53 week plan year. The "2002" plan year begins December 30, 2001, (plan year ends the Saturday coinciding with or closest to, whether preceding or following, December 31st of each calendar year, so the 2001 year ends December 29, 2001). How will EGTRRA apply as it relates to plan years beginning after December 31, 2001. Any comments? Diane
Guest JimJ Posted October 10, 2001 Posted October 10, 2001 Change the plan year! What is the purpose for doing this, other than confusion and added heartache on the administration?
david rigby Posted October 10, 2001 Posted October 10, 2001 Amen!!!!!!! And what is the purpose of using such a definition for the plan sponsor's fiscal year? I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
