goldtpa Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Just saw an article that said more companies will be adding a Roth feature to their 401k in 2013. I have not seen this as true. Most small businesses aren't adding Roth's. anyone seeing companies adding Roth's?
Bird Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Seems like most that want Roth have it already; I see nothing special about 2013. Probably true that "more" will be adding but 1% is "more." Probably written for sales people. Appleby 1 Ed Snyder
Rai401k Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Yes we have had a quite a few clients add roth recently...may have something to do with allowing the new "in plan roth transfer". When they allowed "in plan roth rollover" we didn't have alot of clients add roth back then since the in plan roth rollover limited the rollover to an otherwise distributable event. masteff 1
MWeddell Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I also see nothing special about 2013, but will point out that the % of 401(k) plans offering Roth 401(k) contributions has been rising steadily since Roth first became available. "Nothing special" about 2013 still means an increase in plans offering the Roth feature.
Guest isg2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Based on ATRA, have your plans been allowing in plan conversions? Are you waiting on the document provider or the guidance from IRS? Thanks
Bill Presson Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 We've had very few plans want a Roth provision at all and those that do offer it, very few participants are using it. I've never seen it as a good option, so maybe that's influencing our clients. Also, I'm going to do my absolute best to prevent any of our plans from doing in plan conversions. That is a huge potential bucket of worms that I don't want any part of. William C. Presson, ERPA, QPA, QKA bill.presson@gmail.com C 205.994.4070
Guest isg2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Bill, I don't disagree with you. I was trying to ask if based ATRA if providers are operationally allowing them with the new rules? Thanks
