Does anyone know how long it generally takes the IRS to respond to a VCP submission?  We sent it in back in January and the check was cashed, but we haven't gotten any actual response.  Is there a phone number we can call to see the status?

Thanks in advance!

It takes however long it takes.  We've gotten compliance statements in as little as 6 months from filing, and some as long as 19 months.  Our "policy" is to never ever "poke the bear."  It seems as though every time we do so, we get rewarded with a lot of angst in that the "initial" review is negative - requiring a lot of fire drill work to recover.

I agree with MoJo but I hear the OP saying that not even a confirmation letter was received.  That would trouble me as we all know the IRS was in a bit of a shambles for a period of time following the shutdown.  I don't think an inquiry to make sure that the file hasn't been "lost" is poking the bear.

I submitted under VCP last August and have been following up.  The local IRS office told me they we just now getting to submissions filed last June/July.

I called the "VCP status line" (626) 927-2011 to check on a VCP I filed in March 2019, and got a call back from an agent who said my filing is still being screened and processed, and to call back in 8 weeks or so for another update.
