ESI2015 Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Our client wants to allow for In-Plan Roth conversions regardless of age - does not want to require the participant to be of in-service distribution age for any money source. Can someone provide guidance on how to amend the Relius volume submitter document to allow such provisions?
Belgarath Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 One of the checklist choices involves the age of the participant. Just put in 18, or 21, or whatever age a participant can become eligible for the plan. Also, if you want to allow in-plan Roth TRANSFERS, you have to complete the separate amendment request later on in the checklist. Now, I'm assuming this is the VS 401k in adoption agreement format. If not, then please ignore the above, and you'll have to peruse the specific checklist options for whatever document option you are using to determine how to do it. I suspect it is substantially similar, but I don't know, as I only use the VS AA 401(k) document.
Lou S. Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 The way Relius explained it to me in the past was that "In-Plan ROTH Transfer" are for monies that are not currently distributable and "In-Plan Rollovers" are for monies the participant could elect to receive as a distribution. So if you want to allow for maximum flexibility, select both options.
