Guest Posted August 2, 2000 Posted August 2, 2000 As a TPA, we are considering offering daily recording in addition to balance forward. We would prefer to outsource the daily valuation, 800 # and quarterly statements and retain the document and othe compliance work. Anyone know of a vendor providing this service? Thanks.
actuarysmith Posted August 2, 2000 Posted August 2, 2000 There are now a large number of financial institutions that provide what you are looking for - Nationwide, Manulife, Kemper, Franklin Templeton, American Funds, MFS, Hartford, Aetna, and American Skandia. These all provide for daily val, online access, quarterly statements, 800#, etc. Your job would be to focus on plan design, document prep, form 5500 tax filing, testing, vesting, eligibility, etc. Some of the firms listed are insurance carriers with group annuity contracts and others are straight mutual funds. They are all similar in how they operate from a TPA viewpoint.
Guest Posted August 2, 2000 Posted August 2, 2000 Are there any vendors providing the service not also selling mutual funds? We are looking for a daily product independent of proprietary mutual funds without setting up the daily infrastructure ourselves.
actuarysmith Posted August 2, 2000 Posted August 2, 2000 I knew of one a couple of years ago and it went belly-up. Who would pay for the infrastructure if the third party vendor was not selling funds or wanting to be in the TPA "biz" like us? If a plan sponsor had to pay the vendor, the TPA, and the fund company it seems it would get expensive. All of the firms listed earier provide the daily val platform at no or low cost because they have the investment dollars. Maybe I am not properly understanding your question.............
bzorc Posted August 3, 2000 Posted August 3, 2000 If you are interested, I used to work for a firm that does what you are looking for. Please send me an e-mail and I will reply to you that way, I do not wish (for personal reasons) to put this info up on the bulletin board.
Guest Posted August 7, 2000 Posted August 7, 2000 There are several firms that provide "back-office" daily recordkeeping for TPA firms, other than the bundled providers listed above. I would be happy to provide you with a list if you'll send me an e-mail at carol@cjrconsulting.com.
Guest Richard Scheer Posted August 7, 2000 Posted August 7, 2000 Our firm does daily valuation recordkeeping for a number of clients without doing the documents, taetsing, forms, etc. If you are interested in any information, please email me at fedpen@att.net
Gadgetfreak Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 RPG Consultants (www.rpgny.com) offers recordkeeping services unbundled from their TPA business. ERPA, QPA, QKA

We use a firm that does this for us. And in the 3 years we have been working with them, it has been great. If you are a Relius shop, it works even better since they are on Relius. They have added alot of tools that can also help with trust accounting on your balance forward plans and electronic census gathering for those plans. If you would like more information, send me an email at tbrown@mvpension.com. I'll get you in touch with them. Tim

Guest RoniM Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 As A fellow TPA, we went this route several years ago (where we retain the TPA compliance and the daily provides the recordkeeping, contact with participants, generating quarterly statements (and now required fee disclosures!). In addition to those mentioned, there are also open architecture platforms that don't restrict the investment choices as much as the ones mentioned do. Verisight is one and another is American Pension Benefits. These 2 are not tied to any specific investment products. As far as the others mentioned, American Funds is a great company to work with if the client is ok with having limited investment choices for the plan. When we branched out to the daily world from balance forward, we started with American and they really helped us with the complexities of transitioning to the daily world...I just signed up for this group and saw this...Since it is dated in August I assume your company has already moved forward, but I thought I would pass on my thoughts as a fellow TPA..... As a TPA, we are considering offering daily recording in addition to balance forward. We would prefer to outsource the daily valuation, 800 # and quarterly statements and retain the document and othe compliance work. Anyone know of a vendor providing this service? Thanks.
