guaccounts Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Probably a very basic question for most of you, but I am pretty new to the industry. I know the 2022 SIMPLE IRA contribution limit is $14,000 (or $17,000 with catch up if over age 50). Does that contribution limit apply only to the amount the employee contributes, or does that limit also include the employer matching amount? Thanks!
Bri Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Salary deferrals only. Match would be on top of the 14,000. guaccounts and Luke Bailey 2
Bill Presson Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Also (let me just mention because I didn't realize for a long time) the matching contribution is not based on any compensation limit. So if someone makes $500,000 per year and defers $14,000, the match is also $14,000. Luke Bailey and guaccounts 2 William C. Presson, ERPA, QPA, QKA bill.presson@gmail.com C 205.994.4070
