AllThingsForGood Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I am considering changing software systems (small DC plans, less than 100 1099-Rs per yr) -- going to FT William from Datair. I also have lost my Distributions clerk, so I'm not totally familiar with the IRIS system of filing 1099-Rs yet, but had to go it alone this past January. Forgive me if my question isn't even relevant. For FT William users does the FT William software integrate somehow with the IRIS system? I might not opt for their "add on" module of 1099-R prep if I have to manually use the IRIS system anyway. Thanks!
Bill Presson Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Just use Penchecks Trust for all the distributions and you don’t have to worry about it. William C. Presson, ERPA, QPA, QKA bill.presson@gmail.com C 205.994.4070
Nichol C Posted May 8 Posted May 8 We used FT William’s 1099-R module for the first time this year and had a good experience overall. FTW handled the electronic filing submission for us, so I did not have to separately upload files through FIRE or IRIS myself. There is an additional fee for their filing service, and you do need to work within FTW’s processing deadlines to ensure timely filing, but the process itself was pretty straightforward once everything was finalized in the software. I believe you can also use your own IRS credentials and handle the filing directly yourself if preferred, but we opted to have FTW submit on our behalf.
Basically Posted Wednesday at 02:25 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:25 PM I am a tiny TPA and handle small plans for small businesses and individuals. I moved from Datair to FTWilliam back when it first started... never looked back. Tim McCutcheon was patient with me which helped me dial in my TPA services. I also needed a better way to process distributions. Someone here mentioned Penchecks back in 2013 and again... never looked back.
