BG5150 Posted Monday at 05:15 PM Posted Monday at 05:15 PM Do I have to use the Normal Retirement Age for the plan? Or can I use 65 in my calculations? NRA for this plan is 59 1/2. QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
BG5150 Posted Monday at 05:57 PM Author Posted Monday at 05:57 PM And if I need to use 59.5, do I use the year in which they turn 59.5? Here's the data: DOB 7/15/2000 PYE 2025 Age PYE 25: 25 Year age 59: 7/15/2059 Year age 59.5: 2060 Software is telling me 34 yrs to retirement. But they aren't 59.5 yet at 12/31/2059. Are we supposed to round down? QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
BG5150 Posted Monday at 06:01 PM Author Posted Monday at 06:01 PM Check a few. Seems like it's rounding down. Years to retirement is based on the year they turn 59. QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
John Feldt ERPA CPC QPA Posted Monday at 08:00 PM Posted Monday at 08:00 PM Use the definition of testing age in 1.401(a)(4)-12. I believe you can either round to the nearest age or use their attained age, as long as it is consistently applied to all employees.
