COVID-19 Vaccine: What Employers Should Expect

Seyfarth Shaw LLP

Mar. 18, 2021
On-Demand
Webinar

The COVID-19 vaccine brings renewed optimism and hope, along with a host of questions and compliance issues for employers. In this 90-minute session, we provide an overview of what employers should expect as the vaccine becomes more widely available. This session will be divided into three parts, further detailed below.

Part I: US Vaccine Discussion – 45 minutes

Seyfarth attorneys Tracy Billows, Karla Grossenbacher, Condon McGlothlen, and Megan Toth will discuss the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine in the US and how employers should plan for challenges associated with vaccine rollout.

Topics covered will include:

  • EEOC Guidance
  • OSHA and CDC Guidance
  • Mandatory vs. Voluntary Vaccination Policies
  • Accommodation Requests

Part II: Global Vaccine Discussion – 35 minutes

Seyfarth attorneys Tessa Cranfield, Paul Cutrone, and Yana Komsitsky will discuss the different legal and cultural environment outside the US and how employers should plan for challenges associated with vaccine rollout.

Topics covered will include:

  • Vaccine logistics and take up, and how this impacts employer policies
  • Process in Europe - the role of Works Councils and enforcing behaviors where there is no employment at will
  • Traps for the unwary: privacy and vaccine records
  • Occupational safety and health considerations

Part III: US / Global Panel Discussion – 10 minutes

To end the session, our panelists will come together for a conversation on the differences between US and non-US approaches to vaccination, and whether they can be reconciled.
