Section 530A Trump Accounts – A New Way to Give Kids a Head Start

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025 authorized a new type of IRA meant to give children a head start on financial security. Beginning this year, a Trump account may be established for any child with a Social Security number whose 18th birthday is in 2027 or later. Contributions to the account may be made by parents, family members, employers, charitable organizations, and more. And, for U.S. citizens born between after December 31, 2024, and before January 1, 2029, a $1,000 pilot program contribution is available from the federal government. Learn how these new savings accounts will work and the opportunities they present.

At the conclusion of the session, attendees will be able to:

  • Advise on the establishment of initial Trump accounts and rollover opportunities;
  • Summarize potential contribution sources and applicable limits;
  • Compare Trump accounts to regular IRAs (including distribution restrictions); and
  • Explain how an employer sponsored Trump Account Contribution Program works (and the applicable nondiscrimination requirements).
