Peter Gulia Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 If neither an appropriation nor a continuing resolution is enacted by March 8, the Treasury department’s government-shutdown plan takes effect. That includes no work on writing regulations or nonrule guidance. That further slows guidance on SECURE 2022, SECURE 2019, and open projects unrelated to either SECURE Act. Also, a shutdown affects IRS customer service. Peter Gulia PC Fiduciary Guidance Counsel Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 215-732-1552 Peter@FiduciaryGuidanceCounsel.com
justanotheradmin Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Do you happen to know if it would it affect IRS audits? VCP submissions? If not, then no, it probably wouldn't affect my work. But if so, then yes. I suppose I should keep an eye on it. Thanks for the heads up. I'm a stranger on the internet. Nothing I write is tax or legal advice. I'd like a witty saying here, but I don't have any. When in doubt, what does the plan document say?
Peter Gulia Posted February 26, 2024 Author Posted February 26, 2024 If it helps you, the details are in the Internal Revenue Service's government-shutdown plan: https://home.treasury.gov/system/files/266/IRS-FY24LapsePlan.pdf Examinations cease during a lapse in appropriations. justanotheradmin 1 Peter Gulia PC Fiduciary Guidance Counsel Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 215-732-1552 Peter@FiduciaryGuidanceCounsel.com
