Excerpt: Commissioner Bud Selig said baseball will pay more than $1 million in pensions to 27 former Negro League players, who will have the option of receiving $833.33 per month for four years or $375 a month for life. Baseball previously had established a fund for 85 players who played at least one day in the majors. They receive $10,000 per year. This new money will go to players who came after Jackie Robinson but never had a chance to play in the big leagues ...
