Senate Measure Would Hike PBGC Premiums

Excerpt: Legislation approved Tuesday by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee would more than double the premiums that employers with defined benefit pension plans pay to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. The measure, to be incorporated into a broader budget bill, would increase the annual PBGC premium to $46.75 per participant from the current $19 level, and would index future increases to wage inflation.
