Excerpt: President-elect Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are among the 60 cosponsors of the legislation that would grant the FDA authority over tobacco products. Enacting this legislation would present an opportunity to significantly improve the nation's health and cut its financial expenditures, bringing us a step closer to restoring some of the billions lost.
