Employers with group health plans get to kill two disclosure birds with one stone in that a timely-distributed SBC will also fulfill the requirement to: distribute a Summary of Material Modifications (due within 210 days after the close of the plan year in which the change occurred) or provide written notice of a material reduction in benefits (due 60 days after the employer action to implement the change).
