Comments on EBSA's Automatic Rollover Proposed Regs Focus On Fee Limits
Excerpt: "Many respondents were critical of the requirement that fees related to the automatic rollover IRAs, other than fees incident to the establishment of the IRAs, be limited to the income earned from investments. The commenters understood the goal of the limit on the fees, which is preserving the principal for the participants. However, they believed that the income generated by the permitted conservative types of investments would be too low to cover the costs of maintaining the IRA." (CCH News & Information Library)

Proposed Fund Reforms Come Under Fire
Excerpt: "Of most concern to individual brokers is a February SEC request for comments regarding 12b-1 fees.... More than 700 brokers blasted the agency for suggesting that trail fees be eliminated." (On Wall Street)

Opinion: Pension Crisis in the States
Excerpt: "In the wake of numerous pension scandals and swindles since the 2000 market crash, it should come as no surprise that many U.S. state retirement plans are seriously under-funded. The breadth and depth of the refinancing efforts highlight speculative abuses and miscalculations by many pension fund managers in the 1990's boom years." (People's Weekly World)

Opinion: Don't Mess With 12b-1s!
Excerpt: "How can regulators and politicians consider banning 12b-1s? Because they don't understand what brokers do." (On Wall Street)
