  1. Which is worse? 1. Consistent season long mediocrity? Or 2. Fantastic season play, with a playoff swoon (ala my Sharks?)
  2. He was still young (meaning any age below mine), but he had been retired previously. That's pretty cool.
  3. Hey, I know the guy was an incredible innovator, but I don't think the mask allowed him to play quite that long!
  4. I wasn't trying to call you out. I just meant that it was something I had dealt with a long time ago.
  5. I addressed this issue a long time ago. I got a general information letter from Jim Holland, dated May 7, 1993 that specifically says "Because rollover money is neither a "contribution" nor a "forfeiture", no portion of the rollover money is taken into consideration when determining the amount of premiums that may be used to provide an incidental level of insurance coverage." The question I sent was specifically in relation to using "seasoned" money to purchase life insurance. It's not a Rev. Rul., but I'm pretty comfortable with it.
  6. Interesting. My bad. Wish I had a better answer.
  7. It is my understanding when using the EFAST2 that you have to use the 2009 forms even if it is for an older plan year. So I believe you will have to use the 2009 SB to certify the 2007 plan year.
  8. They do appear to be making progress. Contact them again just to make sure the item wasn't overlooked.
  9. Probably forever! 5558's haven't been returned for a few years now.
  10. The Plan Administrator has to sign. Based on the info I've gotten from the DOL reps on panels, they don't care about a plan sponsor signature. If the guide says that, it's an error.
  11. If they have more than 100 participants, then generally yes. You can find specifics here: http://www.irs.gov/instructions/i5500/ch01.html#d0e345
  12. K-1 income for an s-corp is not earned income and cannot be used. I remain stunned that this issue still comes up (for the other TPA, not you Kathy).
  13. To add a preparer, you click Plan Management, Manage Preparers, Add Preparer. I'm not sure if you can delete a client, but you can edit the client and make them inactive. That should work.
  14. This method is allowed and is used by a number of plans. However, you say that the employer could "create or delete certain allocation groups..." and that is not accurate nor is there a need to do so. Each participant is in a separate group. Just because they are allocated the same dollar amount or percentage of compensation doesn't mean you are creating or deleting groups. Then just test as normal.
  15. The real question is, " Is it just me or does anyone else find this as an unacceptable answer and response time?" There was a LOT of discussion about this at the Relius Summit earlier this week. They acknowledged that it was unacceptable and we were assured repeatedly that they are taking steps to fix the support response issue. I'm hopeful that they are doing what they said and the response time will decrease dramatically over the next few weeks. At the same time, we're extending all of our returns and don't plan to file any until August.
  16. Same question was just asked on Tom's webinar today. Unfortunately, he didn't really appear to understand the question, so there still is no answer. I'm going to be asking about this at the Summit next week.
  17. We've had 1. Knock on wood.
  18. Can you say "party fund". It's not enough to go to Brazil. Seriously, why not do a simple calculation of the breakdown by participant and send the check to the state escheat office with the identification of the participant's name, address and social security no. Or, in the alternative, you might go to an involuntary rollover providers and set up involuntary rollovers for each of the participants. And who pays him for this wonderful work?
  19. No answers from other users (at least not yet). Make sure to post this as an incident with Relius. Worst case scenario is that I will be attending the Relius Summit on the 6th-8th (including the national daily user group) and I'm quite certain there will be plenty of discussions about this.
  20. I don't know the answer, but I'm checking to see if I can get something for you.
  21. It's a smartphone app that I know is available for blackberry (and probably for iPhone) that makes reading message boards much easier than trying to use the phones browser.
  22. Very cool, Bill! I believe I can implement it, and will get on it. Dave Thanks.
  23. Does the board support Tapatalk? I've used it on my blackberry with a couple of other boards and really like using it instead of the blackberry browser for boards. Thanks.
  24. That's correct. Also, if you don't want your signature to be seen by the general public, you're allowed (as an actuary) to just type your name and sign your initials.
  25. You might want to talk to another "administrator". We're accepting new clients.
