Maybe you weren't told for fear your PJs are "au naturel". -
receiving secure emails w/census info
Fredman replied to TPAnnie's topic in Operating a TPA or Consulting Firm
Widely trusted and used in the banking industry: http://www.zixcorp.com/. We also use the web based File Upload feature of built into our admin system (Relius). Not without its flaws, but I believe it to be very secure. When all else fails, we have a secure FTP server. As for why, I simply do not trust email. Short passwords, sharing passwords in email, password cracking services, having to rely on the other users, forwarded email, email accessed via mobile, etc. Working with census data, I'd rather be safe (as reasonably possible) than sorry. -

Our copy machine is being serviced and I needed extra copies of the puzzle, so I downloaded it multiple times. -
We had Sadie Hawkins dances in high school, not college. I don't recall the date because I was never asked to go. Dumb girls.

The trend seems to be wait for SP1 and/or when it is installed on the ASP platform. I'm ASP, so I get it when they give it. Are you looking for comments on features or the soundness of it?

Method of Statistical Analysis
Fredman replied to Andy the Actuary's topic in Humor, Inspiration, Miscellaneous
I let Cleverbot answer all of life's most difficult questions. Q: Was Yogi Bear smarter than the average bear? CB: I'd say. I am smarter than you! Q: How was the conclusion drawn? CB: I didn't go to Costa Rica! Q: Was a random sample of bears selected and tested? CB: I didn't know we were taking turns. Q: How was Yogi able to break away from his heavy work schedule for meaningless testing? CB: What do you mean? Q: Was his tester another bear? CB: I think his mother is Caucasian, actually. Q: Is the bear Catholic? CB: Is the Pope furry? -

.net = dotnet=Microsoft's Framework (http://www.microsoft.com/net/) At what point does the install fail? Have you tried to install the trial version (to rule out licensing)? From the error message, the installer appears to be looking for something and that something is either missing, hidden or corrupt. Relius should be able to help pinpoint what that something is. If you're impatient like me and while you're waiting for Relius to call back, I would uninstall .net, uninstall all prior versions of Gov't Forms and try again. Also, did you see this from the install notes, might be worth a try... 4. Miscellaneous Notes/Disabling certain features How to Disable Setup from Attempting to Install MDAC 2.8 & Jet 4.0 SP8 Files Depending upon your computer's operating system, MDAC 2.8 & Jet 4.0 SP8 components are required to access all the features of the application. If your computer has current Jet and MDAC components, you can disable any attempt by Setup to install these components by manually running the installation program and providing a command line parameter as detailed below. Local Installation: [Drive]:\[Directory]\ RGF55002010SP4Full.exe -nomdac *NOTE: If you skip the installation of these files and the application doesn't run properly, you may be required to reinstall the application and elect to have Setup install these files for you or download and install the appropriate files from the Internet.

Its been awhile since I've done a clean install of Gov't Forms, but this almost sounds like a permission error. Just some brainstorming ideas.... Do you have full admin rights? I think this also uses .net...is that up to date? Are you installing from a CD...maybe download or re-download the executables from their FTP site. Your other option is to file an incident. Either way, good luck!

Explanation to the Auditor
Fredman replied to Andy the Actuary's topic in Humor, Inspiration, Miscellaneous
We use PDF Creator for simple print to PDF stuff. It could be used to print single glops from a big glop. It installs as a printer and you print to it from any application like you would any other printer. You can't edit text in PDFs with it, but it does the job 90% of the time. In addition, it is free and plays with others better than Adobe Pro. It can be found here. -
+1 to what Bill said. I will add that they are updating their FAQs frequently. Before filing an incident take a look here (http://www.relius.net/Support/RGFFAQS.aspx). You will need to log in to see the FAQs.

Clearly, this belongs under Humor not Miscellany. -
I usually get handed 1-2 machines a month from family and friends that are infected. I've faded away from the Spybot and Ad-aware combo. Right now, Malware Bytes Anti-Malware has been very good at detecting and cleaning an infected machine, but it really depends on the situation. At home, I use AVG and/or Antivir (I ditched paid Anti-virus years ago). I also run Anti-malware and Crap Cleaner once a month at home as preventive maintenance. Don't forget to back up the important stuff. With click happy kids and wife using Facebook and the like it is almost impossible to keep things clean, but for the most part I've been lucky compared to other PCs I've seen.

Sorry, I'm a little late to the dance, but there are two ways that I've done this... 1. See attached. This can be run from the Summary of Accounts area of Report Writer and exported to Excel. I think it is setup to pull the name and source type description field, but it could easily be modified to pull SSN and some other field. It is about as simple as a report can get. One cross tab with a few fields. The usual disclaimers apply (no guarantees, you get what you paid for, etc.). 2. Transfer all assets to a dummy investment (we like to use an investment called TAKEOVER). Once that is done create a new plan year and you'll now have all money in one investment sitting in the beginning balance field. Run a DER to export beginning balances for the dummy investment. Obviously #1 is easier, but #2 works well as long as you understand what you're doing. balance_by_source_crosstab.rpt

Seems odd that it would only be affected the boards. I don't see any options to increase size, so I'd put my bet on it being a browser issue. You could try to click on the "delete all cookies" option, sign out and sign back in or move your monitor farther away so the everything appears smaller.

Sorry, we're ASP, so I'm probably not much help...but that won't stop me from making a wild guess. From what it sounds like is you have a custom ADP/ACP report (without page numbers) that you want to use instead of the canned version. The canned version is probably marked as read-only which is why you can't save over it. If this is the case you should be able to browse to the folder (using Windows Explorer or My Computer) with the canned ADP report, rename it (make it obvious that its the canned report) and then move your custom report to this folder and naming it what the canned report was (so that Relius can find it). If my assumptions are wrong, ignore this post and move along.

As Tom points out in his formulas, there isn't a plan status of terminated. You're either Active, Inactive or Ineligible. From there, you can assign a reason code for each. On our reports, I believe we combine the Plan Status (Active, Inactive, Ineligible...RPTEE.EEPLANSTATCD) with the reason code (RPTEE.EEPLANSTATSUBCD) so that we can see why they are what they are. Tom does something similar with his "Ineligible Code" formula. Once you separate someone's Employment Status (RPTEE.EEJOBSTATCD) from their Plan Status (RPTEE.EEPLANSTATCD) it is easier to understand. Definitely some pains getting reports up to date, but once done we found it to be a much better way to track people.

I would fill the cabinets with cans of Pringles. No amount of auditing experience will be able to cover up a trail of Pringle crumbs. Can you document the behavior (2-day audit of 8 person plan, snooping in cabinets, poor choice of neckwear, etc.) and report it to their supervisor?

I've had several really good conversations with them and submitted plan to be scored. I'm not completely on board with some of the scoring methods or how it is presented on the website, but I feel that they are absolutely, without question committed to the process. I think they will be a key player in bringing full disclosure to the fore front. As for their business model, my opinion is that it is something to help keep the lights on. I don't get the sense that they are in this to get rich. I also enjoy reading their blog (great read on the Deliotte fee study was just posted a few days ago). I would recomend anyone in our industry to add it to their reading list. http://www.brightscope.com/blog/

Sungard use to have an Output Solutions division that had a decent looking statement for Relius users. There was also a company in the Minneapolis area (SCI or something like that...I tried Googling, but couldn't find it) that had something simlar to Newkirk. It has been several years since I've paid attention to this, so I'm not sure either of these even exist anymore. You could also write your own.

Not sure that this will help you get the file in Relius, but try opening the file with Notepad. If it is a text file, Notepad will read it.

I'm no attorney, but if you maintained a heading of "due South" wouldn't you become stuck at the South Pole?
