7 pages. Excerpt: [A] comprehensive new plan (PDF) for resolving Social Security's projected financial shortfall demonstrates just how overstated the case for a Social Security 'crisis' really is. Developed by Robert M. Ball, a name synonymous with the Social Security program for nearly 50 years, the plan uses a simple combination of revenue increases and cost reductions to put Social Security on a firm financial footing for the next 75 years and beyond.

7 pages. Excerpt: There is no good reason to 'reform' Social Security. Social Security has not failed. What is needed are some relatively small changes that are desirable in any event and that would improve the fairness and efficiency of Social Security, while at the same time improving its financing. Diverting Social Security funds into private accounts as proposed by the president only makes basic retirement benefits uncertain and the program more difficult to finance.

Syntax Enhancements for Standard Searches

  • Quotation marks can be used to require an exact phrase, such as
    "standard of review"
  • When CAPITALIZED, the words AND, OR and NOT are logic operators, which are especially powerful when multiple words (e.g., synonyms) are grouped in parentheses, such as
(vested OR vesting OR lifetime) AND (retiree OR retirement) AND (health OR healthcare) AND (benefits OR coverage)
